NEW! Turbo Kick
Turbo Kick is kickboxing plus so much more! You'll kick, punch and groove your way to a brand new body in this acton-packed, super fun, and effective cardiovascular workout. This addictive workout combines shadow boxing, kickboxing, sports drills, dancing, yoga, and simple dance moves in a party atmosphere where losing weight is the side effect of having FUN! Turbo Kick is an interval based class that allows participants of any fitness level to participate and custom tailor their workouts. This fat blasting format is the ultimate calorie burning challenge!
Power Pump
Power Pump is a group weight training class using adjustable barbells and fun music. This a full-body, one-hour workout that builds muscle endurance and definition, scorches body fat and calories, while improving bone density. Spike your metabolism and build a lean, strong physique with a high-rep effect!
Fitness Training
Fitness Training is one of the YMCAs core services to its members. The Scottsbluff Family YMCA offers a broad range of fitness programs for people of all ages and abilities. From youth to teenagers to senior citizens, we offer group exercise classes as well as one on one training with certified YMCA trainers.
Our Facilities & Services
Free-Weight Room: The YMCA offers 2000, square feet of the latest in free-weight equipment. Certified instructors are available. The free-weight room hours are the same as the building hours.
Express Workout: this newly remodeled room is equipped with 10 stations of technogym strength machines and Schwinn Air Dynes for cardio. Thirty seconds per station will give YMCA members a great workout. YMCA members must be circuit room members and at least 12 years old to use express circuit. Call (308) 635-2318 for your orientation.
Circuit Room: Make an appointment with one of the YMCA's certified instructors and let them custom design a workout to fit your individual fitness needs. Each member must go through a program orientation before using the circuit room. Contact the YMCA for an orientation appointment.
Spinning Room: this workout can benefit everyone from beginners to world class athletes. Call Lola or Dean to set up a time.
Tennis Court: The North Gym has an indoor court available for rent. Because this is a shared program space, there will be designated times and dates for tennis court rentals. The court may be rented in 1 1/2 hour time slots. Fees: $15.00 singles, $25.00 doubles; or $35.00 groups (5 or more) All fees are based upon a 1 1/2 hour time slot. Community members must also buy a $9.00 day pass.
Racquetball: Wednesday nights from 6:00pm-9:00pm on courts 1 and 2 is challenge night. League's are played on Tuesday Nights 5:00pm-9:00pm. Fees: Free to members; day pass for non-members.
Climbing Wall: The Scottsbluff YMCA's climbing area is the only one in Western Nebraska. The 1400 square foot climbing wall with a 33 foot pinnacle, and the 800 square foot Bouldering Cave provides endless challenges for the experienced climber as well as the perfect introduction tool to sport climbing for the beginner. The climbing wall is located in the North Gym of the YMCA. No Fee. Day pass for non-members.
Times: Monday & Wednesday: 6:00-8:00 P.M. , Sunday 2:00-5:00 P.M.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced climbing classes for all ages.
All groups renting the wall after-hours will have exclusive use of the North Gym and Climbing Area. This is great for churches, youth groups, clubs, scouts and businesses.
Liability and Helmet Waiver
Party at the YMCA: Have your next party at the YMCA and use the pool, climbing wall, gym or meeting room. After hours and overnight parties are also available. Please call the Welcome Center for more information.
Smart Key: The technogym system is a computer based fitness program that can help anyone achieve his or her desired results. Trainers can customize workouts with testing and biofeedback results. This technology allows you to establish a baseline for cardiovascular and strength training. The computer keeps track of your workouts, allowing you to review your progress towards wellness. Members only with a purchase of $25.00 key. Please call for an orientation 635-2318.
Personal Training: One-on-one training with a trainer who will design a program based specifically on your needs, goals and objectives; which will help you attain total body through personal attention. All sessions are one hour and a minimum of six sessions must be purchased. All sessions must be paid at the welcome center prior to the first training session.
Cost: Member $35 per hour (minimum 2 hours) or 6 hours $150 Program member $45 per hour (minimum 2 hours) or 6 hours at $210
Instructors:
Patrick Obuchowski is certified through ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association). He has been active in sports and fitness for about 15 years and has gained a lot of useful knowledge along the way. Playing football all of those years gave him the understanding of how to write workouts for athletes. Once he became certified, he started working for a company called "Smart Bodies". Smart Bodies is a weight loss center in which each member is assigned to a personal trainer. He learned a tremendous amount of techniques and different movements designed to help clients lose weight. Pat is very creative with his exercises and really pushes his clients so they are able to reach their goals.
Denise Snyder has been employed with the YMCA for about 6 years. She started out by coming to the 'Y' in the mornings, working out to get into better shape and feel better. By doing what she does has brought her family and family members to work out at the YMCA. Denise's love for working out has made her want to help others accomplish their goals. Since then she has been certified with the YMCA of the USA as a Foundations of S&C Instructor, Foundations of Group Exercise, YMCA Healthy Lifestyle and Smart Key Coordinator. With these certifications she is a personal trainer, strength trainer, spinning instructor, coordinator of Kids in Motion and also teaches a senior class once a week at the Scottsbluff Residency.
Laz Perez moved to Scottsbluff 20 years ago from Mexico. He currently works at the YMCA as a Personal Trainer, Circuit Strength Trainer and is teaching a Kick Box Conditioning class. Laz is certified through the YMCA of the USA. He is also very active in his personal workouts with a mix of martial arts. His record is 11-1. He loves coaching his daughter in softball and he also plays adult softball. Laz has a passion to help people reach their goals. One of his clients lost 30 pounds in a month and a half to pursue his goal to join the Marines.
Dwight Witherington is certified through the American Council on Exercise. Dwight's own fitness routine balances lean muscle maintenance with cardiovascular health. But he can also teach and support other fitness goals, whether they focus on muscle building, weight loss, or flexibility. In Dwight's free time he enjoys the outdoors, reading, socializing and spending time with his wife.
Missy Spearman has been employed with the YMCA for about 3 years and has been a YMCA member for over 8 years. She likes to stay in shape and encourages her family to be active. Missy started at the YMCA as a volunteer four years ago, and became a certified fitness instructor in 2010. Missy has been certified in: Foundation, YMCA Healthy Lifestyle, and Technogym Smartkey. She is a certified fitness instructor, Silver Sneakers instructor and personal trainer.
